Most alluvial fans occur at the mouth of canyons
Also called a bajada.
A fan or cone-shaped deposit of sediment crossed and built up by streams over millions of years. Alluvial fans are quite prominent with the sight of most inland desert lakes here in Nevada, most typically found where a canyon draining from mountainous terrain emerges out onto a flatter plain.
