An alleged top-secret facility on the government-owned Nellis Air Force Range of central Nevada. The base's current primary purpose is publicly unknown. The intense secrecy surrounding the base has made it the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and a central component to unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore, stemming a worldwide curiosity. However, based on historical accuracy, the base most likely conducts operations in experimental aircraft. Access to the base is strictly prohibited and continually monitored for trespassers; those who do trespass are often subject to federal imprisonment, thus furthering the curiosity stigma.

"Area 51" is situated at the center of the base on the southern shore of Groom Lake. The nearby town of Rachel and the nearby Extraterrestrial Highway have become "home bases" for tourists and Area 51 conspiracy theorists and UFO enthusiasts.
