23,000-acre protected wildlife refuge located at the southern end of Amargosa Valley in southern Nye County. Directly east of Death Valley National Park.
Ash Meadows was created on June 18, 1984 for primary protection of an extremely rare desert oasis and rich riparian habitat home to at least twenty six endemic species of wildlife, consisting of just one part of the much-larger Desert National Wildlife Refuge Complex, which also includes -- the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, the Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge, the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, and the Amargosa Pupfish Station. The Amargosa River plays a valuable role in the refuge as a visible part of the valley hydrology with seasonal surface flow passing southwards adjacent to the preserve.

Ash Meadows can be found at the south end of the Amargosa Valley, 10 miles south of US 95, 36 miles west of Pahrump.
